Hey everyone, I'm just sharing a video of my latest comp game on YouTube. I'm curious if anyone can review it and point out where I'm going wrong or what improvements I should make. I've been stuck at 820 for a while now, and instead of focusing on team issues, I'm trying to analyze my own mistakes. I'll post the video tomorrow in a new thread.

I'm currently at bronze level, earning 8 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss. My score stands at 900 SR, and I'm not seeing any way to improve further.

Bronze and Silver are for those less focused on mechanics... Gold plus would be diving into the core gameplay. I'll cover it too, since I'm a Masters player and can give feedback on a Bronze.

So immediately I noticed you played lower, on defense you should always play on the top. Playing above the opponents gives you a massive advantage considering your hitbox becomes more difficult to hit while the enemy's becomes easier. As soon as the enemy manages to push the payload to under the bridge, you fall back to the festival area, which you did. Also consider that when the Roadhog hooked you on your first death, he got that hook BECAUSE you were on lower. At 2:00 you pushed really far ahead and overextended, keep in mind that your hero, McCree, is a squishy hero. While you did manage to get D.Va out of suit, that Roadhog could have landed his hook on you and seriously punished you. The only reason I would overextend is if I'm playing D.Va and have an Ana babysitting me, otherwise most other heros could easily be picked off with that enemy Roadhog being a threat. At 2:25 you overextended again. At 2:55 you extended with your team, but as your team falls back, you push further out. Kind of risky with the Roadhog being close to respawn. At 3:40 you fired at the Mei's wall, and once the enemy D.Va dropped, you were busy reloading and weren't able to help punish her immediately. Hold back firing on Mei's wall unless you know your team can break it AND it actually benefits you. The D.Va still got punished, but be a bit more mindful I suppose. That roll at 4:00 was pretty pointless but whatevs. Good ultimate at 4:05. You managed to negate the enemy's revive with those two picks and kept the fight in your favor. You're overextending really hard at 4:20, which that late in the game could be a problem. The enemy's spawn is closer so they could potentially stagger you guys and make the first point off of overtime. Play it a bit safer. I don't know if the Mei's ult made any difference. Your ult at 5:30 was pretty good but I couldn't see if the enemy was still alive to say for sure. Either way, you used it to zone the enemies off the payload which was pretty great. Surprisingly this was worth commenting on but good job giving the Mercy a good job. Never insult your teammates, always assume they're good people, and it helps them play better. Tilting is a pretty real thing, and making your team upset with you can lose you the game. At 8:00 you were focusing on the D.Va and Symmetra, but should have focused on the Soldier behind the Payload. He was harrasing you guys and might have been able to have gotten a pick, considering Reinhardt was far forward enough to have to split between two targets. While you're ulting at 8:20, you should have turned right. I'm pretty sure the Soldier was still there harassing, and had you stayed further back, the Roadhog wouldn't have been able to pick you so easily and Mercy wouldn't have thrown away her res. I'm not terribly certain that hook was avoidable but had you waited for Reinhardt to push with you, you probably would have been safe. At 8:38 you started focusing the D.Va, but you should have immediately focused the Bastion. He could have chewed through Reinhardt's shield and done serious damage to your team's standing, or kill you. Truthfully it's probably not a great game to critique considering your team had won, but these are things I noticed. One other thing to note is I recommend pressing tab more often to view your team's ultimates and the enemy team's composition. Later in the first round, I couldn't find the enemy Roadhog, I figured the guy had switched but couldn't tell because you rarely press tab. It's also worth knowing with something like Mercy's ultimate, if you CAN overextend to wipe and get revived from it (still wouldn't recommend, Mercy's ultimate is better defensively). I would say you could also look to combo ults, but there wasn't a hero you could have combo'd with asides from Reinhardt... but in that case, you really don't NEED to ult to clean up as Soldier unless the enemy didn't die right away.

Thanks for the kind words. I’ll try to keep things simpler tonight and avoid overdoing it. Your aim was good, how did it go? Should I focus more on that part next time?

Your performance was better than I thought for Bronze. To improve, try 10-15 minutes daily in the practice area focusing on flick shots. For tougher drills, play a custom game, set Ana bots to hard on the enemy team, adjust match settings to headshot only with 200% damage and skirmish mode. Ana can't headshot, so practice headshots with heroes like McCree, Widowmaker, or Zenyatta.

That’s a solid performance—294 headshots in 30 minutes with McGee is impressive.
