Overwatch
Many have discussed these issues lately, and I apologize if it bothers you. I intend to purchase the game, though my main concern is whether it offers enjoyment when played alone. Everything about it seems great, but I’m worried about the potential disappointment of solo play. It might feel challenging initially, especially for newcomers, but once people get the hang of it and work together, it could become rewarding. Do you think it’s a good investment?
It remains an enjoyable activity. Similar to most competitive titles, having companions enhances the experience but isn't essential. Regrettably, Blizzard leans more toward cooperative play rather than standalone gameplay. You earn extra experience points when teaming up with others compared to solo sessions.
I only tried the Beta solo and had a great time. Still, I like playing Pubs in CS:GO (I usually mute trolls aggressively there). In Overwatch the beta didn’t require that much effort. Most players grasped the objective quickly. I understand it could be exciting with a well-coordinated team, but the Beta community was welcoming and the game remains enjoyable even against better-organized teams—though that’s less common than you might think. If you’re worried, I’d wait a few weeks to see how the non-beta community performs. It might also depend on the region and time of day.
This appears to mirror the idea that CS:GO lacks enjoyment when played solo. I believe such a statement isn't accurate for either scenario, and I had several enjoyable sessions playing alone. Of course there were beginners, but ranked matches are always present—remember: being inexperienced doesn’t mean you’re a troll. The chance of encountering a troll is usually higher on the opposing side if you don’t participate yourself. My advice is to wait a few weeks if you remain doubtful, but honestly you probably won’t need to worry much.
I liked the Beta solo and hanging out with friends. I’d give it a try. It’s enjoyable either way, in my opinion.
Are you sure? That wasn't the feeling I had. There are strong players with solid abilities, but each hero usually faces at least a few others who can match them. Consequently, it's rare to find someone who dominates their whole squad. Team balance and a good level of cooperation (or discipline to keep things tight) will be more important than having one exceptionally talented person.
