i frequently increase my i7 6850k's performance by overclocking one core to 4ghz while keeping the others at 3.8ghz. there might be a method to bring all cores up to 4ghz, especially since i've managed it before. please let me know if you need guidance.

Are you adjusting the cores to 'Sync All Cores' or 'Per Core' in BIOS (if available)?
If you accidentally chose Per Core by changing just the top core value, the remaining cores would stay at the default 3.8ghz instead of updating automatically.
It was simple—I did it myself on my board!
If this applies, update to Sync All Cores and set the correct ratio for the first core; the others should adjust accordingly.
Hope this clears things up.
Cheers!
