Overlock AMD a1 5800k
Overlock AMD a1 5800k
Hello, I'm just starting out with Overlock and have some questions about it.
What voltage are you supplying to that component? The A55BM-A/USB3.0 motherboard features a 3+1 phase VRM without heatsinks on the MOSFETs. This setup limits its ability for significant overclocking. Excessive voltage through the MOSFETs can cause overheating, leading to voltage reduction and potential CPU throttling. Auto-overclocking tends to deliver excessive voltage, whereas manual overclocking usually offers better control—aiming for minimal voltage with the highest clock speeds.

How much voltage are you applying to that component?
The A55BM-A/USB3.0 motherboard features only a 3+1 phase VRM, without heatsinks on the MOSFETs. This indicates it isn't ideal for significant overclocking. If you're supplying excessive voltage through the MOSFETs, they may begin to overheat, causing the system to reduce voltage and potentially limiting CPU performance.
Auto-overclocking usually delivers too much voltage across the board. Manual overclocking tends to be more effective—aiming for the lowest voltage while achieving the fastest clock speeds.
Can you assist with the voltage question?
I’m unsure about the correct voltage setting.
I successfully overclocked manually from the BIOS from 4.0 to 4.1 (using 3.0 Voltage), but when attempting to go to 4.2 (also at 3.0 Voltage), I encountered a blue screen after just one minute of running Windows.
