Overheating issues with the Ryzen 9 5900X
It's been two months since I got my PC, and I started gaming which caused frame drops. I checked the component temps and found the CPU running at 91°C even when idle. After cleaning any dust from the fans, I didn’t download anything during that period. I also scanned for viruses but can’t determine why the issue persists. My CPU cooler is the MasterLiquid ML360R RGB and the case is NZXT H7 Elite. I’ve updated Windows to the latest version and everything is current. All fans are working properly now.
In the bios you can configure and track your fans and pumps, such as in Windows with a tool like Fan Control. It would be helpful to test them in the bios and verify that fans are set as fans (likely PWM) and pumps as pumps (likely PWM). Edited August 17, 2023 by leclod
You can also perform a hands-on inspection. Place your hand near the pump location; it should be situated over the CPU block. Check for any unusual sensations or sounds. If you notice no soft vibrations or hear a faint gurgle, it may indicate a clog or complete power loss. Reconnecting the AIO pump and testing again usually resolves the issue if the problem persists.
