He encountered an issue where his CPU hit a dangerous temperature during startup. He needed someone to inspect it, and I discovered via MSI BIOS settings that temperatures were unusually high. His machine is a 360mm AIO model, the MSI Mag Coreliquid 360R. I attempted to reapply the thermal paste he had available and cleared dust from the radiator, which improved things somewhat but still reached 90°C quickly. The thermal paste we used has a conductivity around 1.11 W/mK; would switching to something with higher conductivity, like 8 W/mK, resolve the problem? Alternatively, I suspect the radiator might be blocked in some channels, and the pump continues to run despite this.

Didn't you apply the recommended thermal paste with the AIO? Attempt to clear the obstruction, reapply paste, and reinstall it. Ensure sufficient paste covers the entire CPU, remains non-conductive, and doesn’t harm any parts. Also, verify the pump is active and connected to the correct header while checking RPM readings in the BIOS.

The PC was assembled roughly two years ago, so the original thermal paste was used. We cleared out the block and re-applied a different type of thermal paste twice without any noticeable change. The spreading looked satisfactory. Yes, the pump is active and the BIOS sensor indicates it's running at full speed.

The device was pulled from service because of a structural issue leading to blockages in the hoses.
