i have experience with gpu overclocking but this will be my first time adjusting a cpu. i know the main settings to change are voltage and multiplier, but i need clarification on what xmp stands for in bios. should i enable it during cpu overclocking? additionally, any other advice would be really helpful.

I want to run the memory at the base clock speed, I don't want to mess with that right now. I just want to overclock the CPU, so should I keep the XMP settings on or off?

Make sure you're using the stock cooler from Intel or a superior alternative.

I would skip it since you should only increase one component at a time. Until your testing script begins to fail, tweak the ratio. After that, make a slight adjustment to the voltage. This approach helps you understand your system's boundaries effectively.

on the 212 evo cpu cooler, omit xmp profile when overclocking the cpu to keep the memory clock speed unchanged. just focus on boosting the cpu itself.
