Hello! I understand you can boost the overclock of i5-6400 by tweaking the base clock. I have BIOS versions that allow this adjustment. My current base clock is 102.7, and it stops working when I go to 102.8 or higher—it keeps rebooting before the setup completes. It shows "Overclocking failed! Press F1 to run setup." Can you figure out what might be going wrong or if a special BIOS is needed?

Also, check the details below:

- Speedstep: OFF
- Turbo mode: ON
- All power-saving features: OFF
- Recommended settings to disable for overclocking: yes

CPU voltage: 1.2
System Agent voltage (VCCSA): 1.1
RAM Speed: 1600MHz
Multiplier: 33x102.7MHz = 3389MHz

Setup info:
- Motherboard: ASUS Z170-P
- CPU: Intel i5-6400 Skylake
- GPU: GTX 960 4GB OC
- Power Supply: Corsair 750w Bronze
- RAM: 2x4GB 2133MHz DDR4 (no XMP support!)
- Cooler: Stock cooler

My BIOS was last updated on 27/9/2015, and my Windows doesn<|pad|>, so it probably wasn’t removed that long ago. Also, I noticed the link you shared seems to point to a BIOS version for non-K Intel CPUs.

It seems adjusting the block speed also affects the RAM speed. Try lowering the RAM speed to its lowest setting and then gradually increase the block timing. You should be able to determine the optimal block speed and adjust your RAM speed accordingly.

I heard that using the EZflash tool from ASUS won't update the Intel ME firmware properly because it doesn't support that update.
