I recently assembled a new PC using an i7-10700K processor paired with the MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Edge WiFi motherboard. I experimented with overclocking and achieved a stable 4900Mhz across all eight cores. However, I encountered a concern regarding CPU temperatures—while idle or light loads show only one or two cores operating near 50% load (around 50°C), others remain at about 35°C. The cores exceeding 50°C spike noticeably within seconds. Tools like Open Hardware Monitor and Hardware Info display different temperature readings per core, which frustrates me because I aim for quiet operation during normal use. The single-core temperature causes fans to spin up faster and louder. I’m unsure if this is typical for this CPU or if I overlooked some overclock adjustments. If it’s normal, I might just need to tweak the fan speed to keep temperatures below 55°C—though that seems counterintuitive. It's actually uncommon to achieve complete multicore usage. Usually only a few cores are used more than others. This is typical. A 50C rating isn't unusual either. Intel can reliably operate at 105C before throttling occurs. If the fan noise bothers you, you can simply adjust the curve down.
