In short, I aim to upgrade my Ryzen 7 2700 to 3.8 or 3.9 on an Asus TUF X570-Plus, and maybe boost the RAM to 3200. The setup looks like this: CPU – Ryzen 7 2700 with a Noctua NH-D14 cooler; RAM – Kingston HyperX Vengeance 32GB DDR4 at 3000MHz (4x16); Power supply – GIGABYTE G750H 750W; GPU – Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super OC. The memory is brand new, the old one was an Aorus B450 Pro with unstable voltage settings. Using Ryzen Master I managed to reach 3.9 and 1.3V stability, but in BIOS the multiplier setting didn’t work. I left the voltage auto and think that was the issue. Until next month when I get a Ryzen 7 5800X, I plan to use this build for performance tweaks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated; sorry if this was covered before, I checked the search first but found nothing relevant.

It would be unexpected if you can't reach 4GHz on a 2700. When I used my 2700X with a X370 SLI Plus, I didn't bother changing settings—just set the multiplier to 40 and adjusted the voltage to 1.3v in BIOS, and it worked fine. Try locking the voltage at 1.35 for regular use; you should be able to increase the multiplier to 40 or maybe even 41.

The 2700 comes with a 4.0GHz base speed. Running at 3.9GHz could feel like a reduction from its standard performance. I wouldn’t worry about operating at 4GHz continuously; it should handle daily use well.

For another month it should be fine. I ran the FX8350 at 4.2GHz OC for around two years each day, and everything worked without any problems. The same Noctua NH-D14 cooler handled it well, staying under 60 degrees even during heavy use.

At 3.9 with 1.325 it failed (tested using Ryzen Master initially) after roughly six minutes of stress testing. Probably best to wait until I have a 5800X next month.

1.3V VDDCR CPU runs smoothly at 3.9Ghz, reaches peak temperature of 51°C after stress testing. Setting 1.3V on VDDCR for the whole system instead of just the CPU was incorrect.
