I attempted to boost my Ryzen 3 1200 3.1GHz to 3.5GHz, but the overclock failed to activate. I adjusted the voltage to 1.3V, yet CPU-Z only displayed a running speed of 3.1GHz and 0.95V. It also briefly increased core speed to 3.5GHz for a moment before reverting. In Task Manager and BIOS, the maximum speed listed is 3.5GHz, though a stress test only reached 3.08GHz. My motherboard is an MSI A320m Pro Vh Plus, paired with a 2060 6GB GPU powered by an 80W 400W power supply.

The motherboard lacks overclocking capabilities. Regrettably, my Asus Prime A320M-K follows the same pattern.

A320 supports memory overclocking, however it does not allow CPU overclocking.

Consider a mid-range motherboard with solid overclocking support for Ryzen CPUs.

I'm concerned about the power source. Could you provide the specific model or details?

I'm using a 400W Rosewill PSU that came with the case. I increased my 1200 to 3.6GHz on the original cooler. Running 2x4 RAM at 2666MHz and an RX 470 4GB. Those first-gen Ryzen CPUs aren't doing much. 3.8 to 3.9GHz should be realistic. I'd just look for a cheap B450 motherboard in a used shop.

it's the only limited review I've seen, yet it's already appearing... suggesting a group REG setup, they say it aligns with C6/C7 sleep stages. It seems to offer solid performance for a group REG, so around a tier C level would be a reasonable estimate.
