overclocking ryzen 3 1200 causes crashes
So I've boosted my Ryzen to 3.8ghz with voltages at 1.26. However, I'm worried this overclock might not hold up after 20 minutes in Apex Legends or Star Wars Battlefront. My PC could freeze, and temperatures might reach around 60 to 65 degrees Celsius, with the GPU hitting about 70 degrees. But I think that's normal since it's quite hot here during the summer (the Netherlands). Still, someone can help me out. Yes, my PC works fine when I'm not playing; it doesn't crash.
What happens when you reverse the OC? Does it function properly? What is the design and production details of the PSU?
Raise the voltage slightly. IME ~1.3V is usually sufficient for that operation. It's a solid choice when performing an OC to check stability. For quick initial checks, CPUZ works well, and you can progress to a longer Prime 95 mixed test.
I haven't done that yet but my PSU is quiet! Pure Power L7 430W
It's uncommon for Ryzen chips to reach 3.8ghz with under 1.3v. Make sure to boost the vcore.
