I've attempted to boost my RAM speed but faced several issues. My motherboard is a Corsair LXP 3600 18 - CMK16GX4M2D3600C18, which uses Samsung's B-Die (version 4.32, confirmed by ThePhoon). I tested a 10600K at 4.8V with 1.15VCCSA across all cores. On a Gigabyte Vision G V-Chip, the voltage stayed at 1.15VCCSA. Timing with XMP was 18-22-22-42. At 3600MHZ it ran smoothly at 3800MHZ, but 18-21-21-41 was unstable. At 3800MHZ it booted, though at 17-20-20-40 it was only 80% stable. At 3866MHZ it was fully stable, but secondary timings were quite tight. Interestingly, my tRFC is very sensitive to XMP settings—using 580MHz instead of 600 would change things. Why the difference?
I just brought back the same RAM package last week since it didn<|pad|> to not overclock for me. XMP functioned well, but when I attempted higher speeds or tighter settings, it settled at 3466, matching your experience.
In my situation I used just one bin and the values were 3800, 3700 and 3866. It seems like a higher voltage might help. A guide mentioned setting the voltage to 1.25 for Samsung's B-Die, but I have a different kit with a micron E-Die version. Should I try overclocking instead?
