I plan to install 3200mhz ram and will need to use xmp. I'm wondering if my i5 9600k can support that speed.

It will handle a load of 3200 without issues. You may want to adjust the voltage slightly, though it's unlikely. It's best to activate the XMP profile prior to any CPU overclocking.
