I've been facing TDR problems in certain titles like rocket league, smite, and aion. However, it works well in more demanding games such as gta5, shadow of mordor, and AC syndicate. I've tried reinstalling windows, performing a clean install, switching to Windows 10, using DDU to fix drivers, adjusting the registry, and even changing the clock settings. The only solution has been reverting back to the original system clock. After testing with overclocking—without changing voltage or memory clocks—I managed to run smoothly in Heaven 4.0, Valley, and 3Dmark (even with a decent score), using EVGA OC Scanner X without artifacts. It also performed well in the heavier games I mentioned earlier. However, it crashed randomly in rocket league, smite, and aion.

I discovered an older 32-bit EVGA OC Scanner that didn’t show any artifacts during fullscreen scanning. In the event viewer, it displayed two errors: Nvidia Open GL Driver error code 3 (sometimes 7), and TDRD which indicated the display driver was not responding but later recovered. I reduced my overclock slightly to +75/150 and it scanned without issues, suggesting it might also work in RL, smite, and aion.

The issue seems related to the Open GL driver, though this doesn’t explain why the EVGA OC Scanner (32-bit) would count artifacts and crash with TDR but not with the X version or other programs.

Specs: i7 4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 8GB RAM, GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0, EVGA Supernova 650GS (80+ Gold).
