Hello everyone, i plan to upgrade my pc with a new motherboard and ram. The new motherboard is the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming paired with the Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4-3200MHz. At the moment, i will only replace those two components and later install the graphics card. My question is: Can i install the new parts without overclocking the cpu? or do i need to overclock both the cpu and ram? Thank you for your time.

you never have to overclock, it is jsut A0 fun, and B) a good way to get free performance. but if it meets the needs at stock, then I don't see why you cant just be content. But why do you have a K chip if you are going to put it on the board? now you cannot overclock.

I understand I can't overclock anymore. I have a K chip since a friend upgraded to an i7 and he gave me the i5.
😉
I'm not a dedicated gamer, just curious if I can run these settings without overclocking. Thanks!
