I can't boost my GPU without Afterburner, and it's equally crucial that I have the custom fan settings active for gaming. Running a fan profile is necessary to avoid thermal throttling. I switch off AB when not using the GPU, which covers both gaming and video rendering tasks. When I'm idle, I don't activate AB at all. The fans only engage when the GPU reaches specific load or temperature thresholds, which usually occur during office applications and browsing—situations I rarely encounter. I'm careful about the long-term health of my GPU cooling fans; if they're not needed, I prefer to keep them off.

if it isn't under heavy use the GPU will lower its speed automatically
