Hey, I've been thinking about boosting my RAM speed to match what's advertised or even higher than the stock setting. But I'm worried if my computer can actually handle it or if I should skip this step altogether. I'd like to overclock my ram because I have a Ryzen CPU (a 5th gen 1600 model) and people say that faster RAM makes your processor run much better. So, the main question is: Should I try it? Can I do it safely? Is it worth the effort? My setup includes a Ryzen 5 1600 with stock cooling, an RX 570 graphics card, an Asrock B450 motherboard, two sticks of DDR4 RAM (8GB each), and PC2666 speed.

You should first check that you have the newest BIOS files for your motherboard and CPU. Just be careful not to download one made just for recent Ryzen chips, because most bosses have already cut out support for old ones like those from the first two generations. So maybe you don't want the latest one at all. Next, go get Thaiphoon Burner to figure out which RAM sticks your computer has, then use DRam Calculator to see what settings you need to put in your BIOS. It takes a little work but you might reach 2933 or even higher if you are really lucky. There are lots of YouTube videos showing how to do this step-by-step.

You should check that you have the newest BIOS files for your motherboard and CPU together. Just be careful not to download a BIOS meant only for new Ryzen CPUs because most companies stopped supporting those old chips in their bios settings. So, don't use the latest one if it's built just for newer generations. Next, download Thaiphoon Burner to figure out which chips are inside your RAM sticks, then use the DRAM Calculator to find out what settings you need to put into your BIOS manually. It takes a little time but getting 2933 or even better like 3200 is possible if you get lucky. You can find lots of helpful video tutorials on YouTube for this process.

No worries, just make sure you look at your BIOS settings. For the guide on manually tuning DDR4 memory for Ryzen, is that video really helpful or do I need something else?

I quickly glanced at the video you sent over. Since I couldn't watch the entire thing, it looked pretty okay. He's using an old version of the drama calculator, though it might not be perfect, and that's fine if we can still keep up with the show.
