A K suffix processor can be overclocked. The intel warranty has expired. Any warranty you have comes from the seller and should be respected unless you've surpassed safe vcore levels, maybe around 1.4v. However... this doesn't matter much, as a B250m motherboard doesn't allow CPU multiplier overclocking.

Many people expressed their opinions, but after upgrading my CPU to an i5 4960k with a b85m-e, I was able to overclock it without any issues. The voltage stayed the same, and I reached 4.2 GHZ smoothly. Using a hyper 212 evo for cooling, the maximum temperature reached around 50°C when idle, ranging from 32 to 37°C during operation. Others might say my motherboard wouldn't allow it, but it did work for me.

The b85m-e motherboard supported multiplier overclocking for the G3258 processor.
I believe the microcode wasn't limited to just that specific chip.
If it functions, proceed with the feature.
Back in the day, some boards had unapproved BIOS updates enabling CPU overclocking.
Intel disliked this and removed the option.
Use at your own risk (though I think it's low).

Well I've never come across those motherboards before, actually, I first updated the BIOS and the update from ASUS didn't work properly, so I had to go back to an older version. That fixed everything. I also overclocked using the BIOS and it functioned well. He should try again if it's unlocked; otherwise, he might need to replace it.
