Would trying to overclock my PC affect the performance of other components?
I have an i5 6400 on a Gigabyte G1 Sniper B7 motherboard, with 8GB RAM and a 4GB graphics card.
I’ve never done overclocking before.

It’s not possible with a non-K series chip. To run an Intel CPU you need a K series chip plus a Z series motherboard.

don't waste time. if you install an aftermarket cooler, go all out, but the effort and testing required won't justify the small improvements. and the K, Z part is just a joke.
