Hi everyone. I recently tried overclocking my GTX 1070 mobile to +197 Core clock and +342 memory clock using MSI Afterburner, but noticed no significant improvement in gaming performance. When playing GTA V, only a slight increase in FPS was observed. The CPU was also overclocked to 4.0ghz (i7-6820hk). Could I be doing something incorrectly? Also, I didn't raise the voltage or power limit because those options were grayed out (even though they were enabled in settings).

Laptops offer almost no thermal margin, meaning once the workload increases they will automatically slow down (typically around 82%). You can monitor temperatures using MSI Afterburner to track performance levels.

Hello everyone. I recently tried overclocking my GTX 1070 mobile to +197 Core clock and +342 memory clock using MSI Afterburner, but noticed no significant improvement in gaming performance. When testing GTA V, the FPS only increased slightly by about 2. The CPU was also overclocked to 4.0ghz (i7-6820hk). Could I be making a mistake? Also, I didn’t raise the voltage or power limit because those options are grayed out (even though they were enabled in settings). Thanks.

Laptops offer almost no thermal margin, meaning they will automatically slow down once the load increases beyond a certain point—around 82%. Using msi afterburner can help monitor temperatures and understand your system's status. I didn't expect this advice, but it seems accurate. Make sure to check your temps.

Conditions remained stable, never exceeding 76 C. Cooling system operating at 85%. Edit: Verified in Unigine Heaven. Average FPS 87.3, overclocked to 93.3.
