: Overclocking GPU Needs Assistance
Overclocking won't damage your GPU. Make sure you modify the GPU cooling fan curve to handle increased heat. You should be okay.
Download and loop Furmark or Unigine's Valley benchmark for 30 minutes and observe any screen artifacts. If you notice dots, triangles, or unusual movements like sudden speed changes, it may indicate the clocks are set too high. Keeping your video card running while producing artifacts or constantly lowering its speed can eventually harm the card.
Modern GPUs have built-in protections to prevent overheating and shutdowns when too hot. Artifacts at high settings are just cosmetic issues—they won’t harm your card, though they might cause it to malfunction or shut down. Using a different BIOS than the manufacturer’s can damage your card because it may disable the safety features designed by the original developers.
