I'm looking to boost my CPU performance but I'm not sure how to do it. I've done overclocking before with the graphics card, but this is different for the CPU. My system specs are: GA-78LMT, USB3, 6.0 motherboard, FX6300 processor, 8GB RAM, 550W power, and a GTX 960 GTX 1G 2G graphics card.

I only have stock cooling and don’t want to spend money, but I’d like to switch to Intel. Right now I’m stuck in many games because I overclocked my graphics card. When I play with around 40/40 players on the server, my FPS drops from 15 to 10, then jumps back up to 20. It usually stays steady at about 30, but I want at least an extra 10 FPS. If you don’t want to upgrade your cooler, don’t overclock—especially with AMD. An Evo is a budget option and should work well since if you can’t get a cooler that fits an Intel machine, risking CPU damage while you can’t afford a new PC doesn’t make sense.

It's quite straightforward, as AMD provides a tool called AMD Overdrive that allows you to adjust multipliers and voltages, then perform stress tests. But what are you really pushing? The motherboard should handle overclocking, but you'll likely need the dependable CM Hyper 212 Evo.

How to oc: If instability appears, slightly raise the voltage but do it gradually—aim to keep it below or near 1.5v. Proceed carefully with the multiplayer mode as well; avoid sudden big jumps.

Overclocking via AMD Overdrive can be unreliable; it's safer to adjust settings through the BIOS. In any case, overclocking generates more heat that needs addressing immediately.

I understand, I was just providing an easy-to-use method for overclocking his fx-6300. It might not be the optimal approach.

I'm using the Cooler Master TX3 on my FX6300 with a 4.3GHz overclock in BIOS, and it's working well. My motherboard is an ASUS M5a97 r2.0.

I only have stock cooling and don't wish to spend money, as I prefer to switch to Intel. However, I face limitations in many games now since I've overclocked my graphics card. I was getting in arms 3 with around 40/40 players on the server, and my FPS would drop from 15 to 10, then spike back up to 20. It usually stays stable at a low of about 30, but I want at least an extra 10 FPS, so how high can I clock?
