Overclocking Configuration For i9-11900K And The ASRock Steel Legend
You don't have to invest $370 to overclock a 11900k, actually.

MSI Z590-A PRO ATX LGA1200 Motherboard (Z590-A PRO) - PCPartPicker
This board can handle the task and is reasonably affordable among Z590 models.
You could go higher, but it's not necessary.
The video also discusses testing these boards, which were only run at a 4.9GHz all-core OC at 1.35v. This performance is considered average for the CPU, and pushing it to 5.1GHz or 5.2GHz could impact VRM thermal limits and capacity due to increased current draw. Mid-range motherboards with 50-60A VRM configurations will likely be affected. The choice really depends on your specific goals. MSI A Pro/Torpedo offers great value, and Asus Tuff gaming is strong in capability, though it still falls short compared to the Asus ROG boards. Prices shown in the video for the Asus ROG were $330, while on PCPartPicker it was $370 yesterday, indicating some price variations to note.
Are you using the Z590 steel version or the Z490?
I could recommend sticking to the default settings and letting a strong processor handle everything.
I recently put an I9-11900KF on an Asrock Z590 extreme.
It seems the steel legend is almost identical.
Unless your needs are for batch applications that require high performance across all cores, I wouldn’t bother with overclocking.
The turbo feature automatically enhances the preferred cores when needed.
That’s exactly what games demand.
Also, I’m using a Noctua NH-D15s.
A CPU-Z stress test shows the maximum temperature around 65°C.
This isn’t a hot processor unless you’re pushing overclock voltages.
