Overclocking bios problem
Overclocking bios problem
Recently I've started experimenting with overclocking my CPU, specifically an i5 4690k. The performance gains in Windows have been impressive, but I'm facing a bothersome issue. After successfully setting my CPU to 4.3 GHZ at 1.2V with turbo off, the problem arises when I restart the computer after a few days. On the first launch it fails to boot, but on the second it reaches the BIOS and reports that my settings are incompatible with the current hardware. It seems I can run Windows normally with the same settings previously. This inconsistency is minor compared to the performance boost, though it happens occasionally. I've had to remove the MOBO battery to reset the BIOS. Anyone have any ideas about the cause or a solution? Thanks.
I've experienced the same problem with specific boards on a decent OC. It didn't get resolved, and it wasn't a major issue—just something I dealt with for years until I upgraded.
