Hello, I need advice on a great BIOS setup for an AMD FX 8320 that's been overclocked to 4GHz or higher. I attempted the overclock myself but it keeps freezing during games. My system includes an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 (no EVO), a VRAM heatsink, 16GB RAM, HyperX Savage, an RX 570 4GB with Sapphire memory, a high-power 750W PSU, and a Master 212 EVO cooler. Thanks in advance.

Does the processor speed decrease prior to freezing? It’s possible you might be overworking that limited VRM. This board only manages basic configurations.

What are the CPU temperatures? This seems like a potential overheating issue.
There are numerous discussions online about overclocking the FX8320. That's where I'd begin. Each CPU behaves differently (silicon lottery), so it's not possible to provide a universal "ragged edge" without stress testing your specific processor.

You might attempt it, but be prepared for limited results.
A top-quality motherboard is essential for running an FX8350 and even overclocking it.
The main challenge isn't the CPU cooler, but the motherboard's cooling system.
One possible solution is to remove the case cover and use a household fan to cool the motherboard.
In the end, the FX series is largely outdated for gaming purposes.
A $250 upgrade would provide a modern alternative that is twice as effective for gaming.

Does the CPU speed decrease before the freezing occurs? I’m not surprised if the weak VRM is causing this issue. The board seems to struggle with standard configurations.

FX CPUs face numerous issues, such as overheating, and I strongly recommend making a change.

I updated it to version 4.3 now and it's stable, thank you.
