Overclocking
Overclocking
Does the ROG MAXIMUS XI HERO MB support that? I’m open to building a PC around it and unsure if overclocking is safe.
Using a videocard is feasible by creating two distinct profiles in your preferred overclocking software. One for standard performance and another for high power settings. Most CPU overclocking happens via the motherboard's BIOS, so you'd need to restart each time you adjust settings. Intel XTU offers some options, though it doesn't provide the same flexibility as BIOS.
since I haven't purchased anything yet, my PC is still not set up. I'm unsure if overclocking is necessary, so I'm looking for the best components for my project. My current selections include: Intel Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-core processor, Corsair H150i PRO 47.3 CFM liquid cooler, Asus ROG MAXIMUS XI HERO (WI-FI) ATX motherboard, G.Skill Trident Z RGB 64GB DDR4 memory, Seagate BarraCuda 2TB SSD, Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 NVME drive, Asus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB, and Corsair RM 2019 power supply. I plan to use these for gaming, FHD video editing, and 4K photo editing.
You've got a solid foundation here. The parts you mentioned seem promising, so no need for major changes.
