Hello everyone, I'm using a motherboard from ASUS Maximus Xii Hero with an AMD 10900K CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a GTX 3060 Ti. My GPU is an RTX 3080 Ti, and I have NVMe SSDs. I'm running at 5.1 GHz manually with a voltage of 1.29V. The maximum temperature in benchmarks is 85°C, but in games it stays between 70-75°C. Most of my PC time is spent gaming. I'm curious if the voltage setting is too high and if it could affect long-term performance or cause degradation. Also, are my temperatures acceptable for continuous use? Thanks for your advice!
1.29 V at 5.1 GHz works well. Consider reducing the voltage, but it’s unnecessary. Your temps during gaming stay pleasant, and your CPU will remain reliable at these levels.
One of my i7 8086ks has run at 5.1ghz continuously since 2018 without any problems, currently at 1.34v. It runs with a Hero X chipset. I have two comparable systems that aren’t overclocked because they use TVB. One uses an i9 10900k paired with a 3090, and the other is an i9 9900k with a similar setup. For 4K gaming, I don’t feel the need to push it higher now, though future GPUs might change that. I’m also considering checking for gain, as my i9 9900k and one of my i7 8086ks didn’t show any improvement in frame rates between 5GHz and 5.1GHz.
