Check if it's secure to push the i5-6600 up to 2.7GHz with your ROG Strix B250F motherboard.

The method for increasing the speed of a locked CPU on a non-overclocking motherboard depends on having a unlocked K CPU and a Z170 or Z270 chipset.

How will you go about overclocking a locked CPU on a chipset that doesn’t support overclocking? You’d need an unlocked K CPU and a Z170 or Z270 chipset.
Probably not well thought out. It’s becoming tougher to find Z170 boards, but they’re still available, and there are many second-hand options for someone planning a non-K overclock on Skylake.

Precisely what method will you use to boost the performance of a locked CPU on a chipset that doesn’t support overclocking? To do this, you’d require a unlocked K CPU and a Z170 or Z270 chipset.
