Overclock your NB/HT to align with the 2400MHz RAM.
I'm confused about how the NB works. I installed a 2400MHz RAM and after applying XMP it changed to those settings: CL10-12-12-31, 1.65V, HT-Link 2400MHz. But my motherboard automatically adjusted the NB to 2400MHz and raised the CPU voltage from 1.2V to 1.4V. Why? When I check with HWinfo64, the CPU voltage is 1.47V under load—does that seem normal? I need to know the safe limits for CPU voltage and NB temperature so I don't damage anything. Also, I want to understand how the RAM, Memory Controller, HT-Link, and NB interact. For example, on AMD FX systems, the Memory Controller manages RAM, then HT-Link connects the CPU to the NB, which handles the GPU and other tasks. When the NB runs at 2400MHz, does the Memory Controller also run at that speed? Or is its speed synchronized with the HT-Link? Ideally, the Memory Controller should match the FSB frequency I use. I'm trying to optimize the system for 2400MHz RAM and want to tweak settings safely.
CPU NB Voltage should match or exceed RAM speed—like a 2400MT/s RAM should have at least 2400MHz NB. HT-Link can align with NB, but it doesn't need to be identical; keeping it the same isn't necessary. I chose 2600mhz instead of lowering it because reducing it might hurt GPU performance. NB should be equal to or higher than RAM MT/s. For CPU, the maximum NB voltage is 1.4v.
