overclock voltage and blue screen issue
overclock voltage and blue screen issue
I'm using an asus maximus 8 hero board with an i5 7600k, 32gb ddr4 corsair vengeance rgb 3000mhz ram, and a rosewill hive 750 watt power supply. I previously overclocked to 4.7ghz at 1.18 volts, then increased the overclock to 4.8ghz without changing the voltage. After installing Witcher 3, I experienced black screens that disappeared quickly, followed by a blue screen and a restart. The event viewer showed an event id 41 kernel power. I adjusted the voltage to 1.216 volts and ran a stress test, which resolved the issue. Anyone have similar experiences or suggestions?

talking about your question – it seems 4.8 wasn’t stable at 1.18 volts, so more was needed. I believe a 4.8ghz on 1.25 volts works well for the 7600k. I just wanted to see if anyone had a similar case or any advice. Gotcha. Did you test 4.8ghz at 1.2 volts? Ideally, aim for the highest clock speed with the lowest voltage possible.
the actual reading was around 1.216 volts
Feelinfroggy777 : The difference between 1.216 and 1.22 isn't huge. With good cooling, you should reach 5ghz. I'm using a 7700k and getting 5ghz at 1.33 volts. I believe your chip can surpass that. Should I keep it at 1.216 or increase it?
If it remains steady, I wouldn't increase the voltage. Just boost it when it fails and it's not overheating. Going up to 4.9 might require adjusting the voltage.
