Hey, I have a question and some issues.
I’m not able to overclock my Q6600 to 3GHz.
I managed to get it to 2.7-2.8 but it crashes after a prime for about 10 minutes, and I didn’t make any changes in the BIOS.
My motherboard is an ASUS PG541T MLX.
Please help me.
By the way: at 2.6GHz it works perfectly without any BIOS changes.

To achieve overclocking you need effective cooling and possibly a slight adjustment of the CPU voltage. Searching online will show you common settings others have tried. The standard cooler may not suffice for your goals, and replacing it on an older system isn't practical. Additionally, ensure your PC is clean—dust accumulation can hinder cooling and overclocking performance.

I have a good cooler, everything is clean.
I installed a new PSU of 700W and a new PC case.
I also added 5 fans that are 120mm.
Please help me.

Did you modify the voltage levels?

What is voltage exactly? How much is it?

Google it. There isn't a strict guideline and the details are easily found. If I were you, I'd increase it slightly by .1 after checking stability, then reduce it by .05 once things look steady and re-test. I wouldn't go beyond .15 without using advanced cooling.

You're right to note that the q6600 won't be extremely fast, even at 5ghz. It would still lag behind today's standards. I'm bringing this up because you're combining new components with an old system—hope you don't invest many hours chasing small speed improvements that feel almost nothing. A better return would come from spending those same hours earning money to buy a new CPU instead.

I understand but I don't feel like raising the volume right now, I'll wait.
I'll come back when something happens.
By the way: online people say it should be around 1.3v and if I want to change it it's red, I think it's risky.
When I increase from auto to 1.2 it goes yellow then purple then red.
