I'm considering upgrading my old i5-4670K with stock cooling. Should I try overclocking or replace it entirely? What performance gains could I realistically expect from overclocking? What kind of cooling system would be necessary? My current setup includes a 12GB DDR3 RAM, a Nivida GeForce GTX 1070, a 750W power supply, and a Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H-A motherboard.

This motherboard does not allow overclocking. The maximum you can achieve is enabling multi-core enhancement.

Hi, even without boosting the speed, a better cooler would be a good idea. It will noticeably boost performance since the built-in ones are poor and can lead to throttling, especially during games. A solid cooler should handle most tasks without much issue (though 1080p might still affect it).
The CPU's power consumption is 84W, so a decent air cooler like GAMMAXX GT or NH-U12S will work well. It also fits modern sockets easily, making it convenient for future upgrades to the motherboard and processor.
If you're planning to overclock, I'd wait until someone else gives advice since I'm not very experienced with that.
