Hello! I've been dealing with several problems with my PC for about a year, including five RMA requests yet no resolution. Here are my current details in order: first the specs, then the sequence of events, and finally what troubleshooting steps I've already attempted. TL;dr: My system uses a 4070 Ti and 1000W PSU with Mobo LEDs. It won't respond to power button or short the pins except occasionally. With a 1070/750W PSU, LEDs stay on but the power supply needs to be reset on and off each boot or it won’t turn on. The CPU is a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, RAM is G.SKILL Flare X5, and I have an AMD EXPO 32GB at 6000 series GPU. The graphics card is GALAX GeForce RTX 4070Ti, running Windows 11.
Recent issues: In June 2023, I bought a 3080 and MSI PSU in June. Two weeks later, I encountered constant crashing errors during gaming, suspecting a corrupted GPU kernel. I filed an RMA and returned a new GPU—no refurbished one. This happened about four times. The GPU worked for a couple of weeks before recurring nvlddmkm errors, especially on light games. After the fourth incident, I replaced RAM, GPU, Mobo, and CPU. I thought swapping out the old parts would fix it. My build failed to start after roughly four months.
Motherboard lights functioned initially, but pressing the power button or shorting pins didn’t work. A week later, just turning it on succeeded, but nvlddmkm errors returned quickly. I suspected a power supply fault, so I returned my MSI PSU for an RMA, which gave me a new one—still no improvement.
Current troubleshooting: Tried turning it on/off repeatedly, reseating RAM, GPU, and cables. Unplugged all accessories (except boot drive). Switched PSU/Mobo/RAM, used a different outlet (with or without surge protector), reinstalled the GPU drivers, and reinstalled Windows. Any help would be appreciated.
Tried connecting the 1070 to the 1000W PSU with ERP enabled; it now resets the PSU on startup without issue, but the 4070 remains unresponsive after power attempts. Removed the CMOS battery and performed a power cycle, yet no improvement.
