Hi,
It was found some time ago that you can overclock non K chips on non z boards in Sky Lake. Is this still feasible and are there any motherboards that support it? Thanks.

You have the option, but a Z170 board is almost essential for a reliable OC. Besides that, the only boards that still allow non-k overclocking are the AsRock K4 series models, which I believe are limited to the Z170 chipset. Unless you're prepared to invest heavily in a motherboard solely for overclocking, it's better to wait for a significant upgrade.
