Sorry about the formatting—this looks a bit messy. Here’s a clearer version:

My power went out while my computer was on, making it run very slowly. I can’t open any programs because they keep loading. It’s been happening for about four hours now. I’ve tried restarting a few times and even plugged in the boot drive, but nothing worked. I’m confused and would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

What kind of storage device do you use? Do you have an SSD or HDD? Your complete system specifications are also welcome.

The boot drive uses an HDD with total specifications listed. If you forgot anything, let me know. The system includes a Ryzen 5 5600X processor, a stock motherboard, a MSI B560 gaming motherboard, a GTX 1070 GPU, 2x16GB DDR4 RAM at 3600MHz, and a Thermaltake 600W 500Gb HDD for boot. The 1TB NVMe SSD is also present. All components are nearly brand new except the HDD and SSD.

Start copying the boot drive to an SSD right away. Based on how old the HDD is, a power surge often causes problems, especially if it’s worn out. Try opening Task Manager in the system and look at the performance section—see what percentage of usage your boot HDD is handling. If it stays at 100% consistently, that’s likely the cause. If you can’t access anything on the main system, connect the boot HDD to another machine and run Crystaldiskinfo to verify, though this seems like a probable issue too.

There could be damaged areas on the HDD from the power failure. I often use a free tool named Defraggler, particularly when working with a hard drive. This program can relocate files away from faulty regions, potentially improving speed.

I suspected this might be the issue. The system remains extremely unresponsive when trying to launch Task Manager, though it usually opens with high usage percentages. I plan to change the boot drive tomorrow morning since it's late, and thank you for your help!

I understand, please keep the device running so I can assess its performance and proceed with the test. Appreciate your patience!
