You're just starting out with networking and are facing a tricky issue. After checking your setup, you replaced the power adapter and adjusted the settings, which helped the power light stop blinking. Now you're unsure what to do next. Some advice suggests checking the router's web interface, but since you're not connected to your ISP, that might not be possible. You could try resetting the router manually by unplugging it for a few minutes or using a factory reset tool if available. If you have access to any documentation or support channels, reaching out there might provide clearer guidance. Keep experimenting and documenting what changes work!

Contact your ISP to request a modem replacement. There might be an issue with your modem due to a power surge. Also, ask them to perform a line test to verify connectivity.

If it's an ISP provided unit, have them repair it. Also, think about installing a UPS—this not only safeguards your connected devices but also ensures you stay online during outages, especially if your ISP offers backup power. I use both my modem and router on the UPS; when the grid goes down, I still get internet for 15 to 30 minutes because Comcast connects its node to the backup power source.
