Hey everyone, I've switched my desktop setup in the dorm and am using my laptop more often since it's far from a power source. To save battery, I'm avoiding Chrome because it drains the CPU heavily, even though games still lag. Firefox works okay but not as well, and Opera is basically just Chrome with no real advantage. I've been stuck with MS Edge so far, but it's really frustrating. It feels like Microsoft is pushing alternatives but isn't letting them stand out. With a laptop running Windows, it's tough to find a browser that doesn't drain the battery. Any suggestions for better options?

Internet Explorer 11 is a minimal option. Battery performance isn't guaranteed—I'm uncertain about how long it lasts. My laptop idles for roughly ten minutes before powering off completely.

It seems the issue is with Mozilla, likely due to an adblocker problem.

Whenever I switch to fullscreen on YouTube, it always closes automatically. Because I rely heavily on my laptop for watching videos, this turns into a problem fast. The bookmark feature is also quite slow, pulling data from Chrome in the background, which is really frustrating.

There aren't any more suitable choices left. It's worth noting that MS Edge is still emerging; a developer preview version is being developed and includes fresh features for Windows 10. This release should introduce browser extensions. While I've heard they'll arrive next year—possibly in the upcoming build.

I switched back to Chrome since I required AdBlocker.

I used a tutorial to perform unusual registry modifications in order to disable ads across Windows. The main result was a pop-up message stating "only secure content is shown" whenever an ad was blocked in Edge.

It feels like a retro vibe from the early 90s, especially if you're into text-based communication.
