Hello, Since the Windows XP era I've relied on Advanced SystemCare free and pro versions to keep my PC running smoothly. Still, despite its usefulness, it tends to be quite intrusive—showing pop-ups, pushing outdated software, adding features I don’t need, and sometimes acting more like an adware than a true anti-virus tool. It’s not the kind of experience you’d expect from a genuine security program.

My question is: are there better alternatives available? Something affordable, maybe around $10 a year, that offers solid maintenance without the annoying interruptions? I’ve found Malwarebytes to be strong in antivirus protection but limited to that area. Advanced SystemCare does its job well, but its excessive behavior is a drawback. If you’re looking for something less intrusive yet still reliable, let me know what options you’ve tried!

Have you tried Avira? It has worked well with your new PC for six months now.

Usually these programs aren't great, and Windows can handle most of it. I recommend just letting Windows take care of things.

Thank you. I'll keep this in mind if I choose not to heed Electronic Wizardy's suggestions. Will Windows remain stable over time or will performance decline? I was expecting such software to extend Windows' lifespan before a full reinstall is needed. Was my opinion on this accurate? I previously used it and wanted all essential tools in one package, but now I think it makes sense to try again. Appreciate the discussions!

Windows doesn't slow down over time, your programs slow it down. Installing lots of programs will cause it to slow down a bit, so keep stuff you don't need off the system and your good, and stop background apps you don't need. There really isn't much more this programs can do that windows can't.
