It's clear most people think PC offers better performance than consoles. I'm curious—can Windows 10 run smoothly on an Xbox One? Many of us are hoping for a solid answer, so let's gather some thoughts and suggestions from everyone.

You'd like a Windows version of Xbox that's heavily restricted—no Steam or similar services, but it should be secure enough to avoid jailbreaking. However, such a setup might trigger immediate removal and require a complete Windows installation with full control, which could result in the game being taken off quickly.

The Xbox One X uses an x86 CPU but is not a traditional PC. You can't install an unmodified NT kernel on it. Still, it operates with a significantly altered version of the NT kernel, which won’t let you run a full desktop Windows experience.

The Xbox One runs a customized version of Windows, but it's not suitable for general PC use because likely security measures are in place. If it could be used, the modding scene would probably have reacted quickly—unless they're still unaware.

It might be feasible, but it would be tough to make any significant changes. They restrict modifications like replacing the main storage drive, making an operating system upgrade quite challenging.

A team of expert console hackers might figure out ways to side load on a Linux distribution or fully reinstall the NT kernel for compatibility, but most people won’t be able to run Windows on it.
