OS drive replacement
OS drive replacement
I own a mini pc equipped with an M.2 nvme storage for the OS (Proxmox) and another SATA drive for VM storage. I discovered that the nvme drive isn’t sufficient and was poorly partitioned, so I replaced it with a bigger one. My concern is whether removing both drives and installing a fresh Proxmox OS on the new drive will allow me to revert to the old setup later, or if the hardware changes will prevent that.
Sticking to the same kind of drive but with a bigger capacity and installing a cloned OS won't cause issues. If you perform a clean installation without any existing drives, it won't affect the old ones, allowing you to reconnect and use them again for dual booting.
