I'm sitting here enjoying AC Origins on a 1080ti with a 4K display—it works well! The downside is I'm limited to a basic 4-core i5-4670k at around 4.3 GHz. CPU utilization stays at 100%... Running at 4K with 70% resolution scaling lets me keep about 60 FPS, which is what I need most of the time. The real issue is my GPU usage hovers between 60-70%. I know there are only a few processors with strong single-core performance, but I'm still running into some bottlenecks in certain titles that demand more than four cores. It seems the complex DRM layers might be the culprit here. What's going on with Ubisoft? If this game is really taxing my CPU, why aren't consoles with their 2.3 GHz Jaguar cores performing better? Also, it looks like high-end i7s are facing similar struggles. Would getting a version without DRM help fix the problem? Anyone have any ideas or solutions? It's frustrating to play and see my GPU usage at this level.

Is this a query about the topic? There’s no clear evidence of the DRM consuming significant CPU cycles, and claims remain unproven.

I hold the games DMRC and the DMRC within the DMRC accountable.

Looking into this, I’m mainly curious if anyone has a fix for the CPU-GPU usage difference without needing a new CPU. For an i9-9990x, or based on what Ubisoft says, keeping everything at 100% to keep frames smooth is probably not accurate. The GPU performance in the 60s still causes frame drops regularly.

As soon as the issue is identified, we'll be able to examine it. Typically, DRM increases in CPU usage stay within acceptable limits, so I don't anticipate any significant deviation here.

It's no coincidence that AC has targeted quad cores starting with Unity.

VMprotect activates continuously to verify file changes, causing constant CPU usage.

Just one request to the CPU—what time does it take? Can you provide proof it’s operating smoothly and maintaining a high frame rate? The same applies to Denuvo. This group tends to loop through the same points without understanding or seeking real evidence. So far, I’ve only seen speculation from someone on torrentfreak.
