Ordered a 5800x3D model.
It's arriving soon and I've already started getting ready for the upgrade—new drivers, BIOS updates, etc. My main worry is handling the temperature, moving from a 65-watt setup to a 105-watt one. I've done some research but am curious if anyone in this group has the chip or any tips not found online.
What's your latest cooler model? What kind of case are you using? A tower air cooler would be ideal, though a smaller case might require a different approach.
The January Ryzen 7000X3D chips are expected to be revealed or launched. This is just background information; they'll likely require additional memory and RAM.
A bit dated, but for my needs I own a Corsair 230T. For cooling purposes, I use a Black Hyper 212.
DVD-RW drive sounds great. You only need three more HDDs to record some films! Honestly, the old hyper 212 should work fine for getting started. I’d keep it for now, and after you get your 5800x3d, run a stress test to check its performance. If it fails, consider buying a cooler.
Certainly believe it will work, though I’m confident it’ll test the boundaries of the 212’s abilities
I agree, but it doesn’t make sense to waste money on alternatives when there’s a better option available. For research! Oof...
What you mentioned... If someone in the group has a set of lightScribe CDs, they might offer you a M.2 500 GiB drive.
