I bought a Ryzen 5000 CPU yesterday and placed a pre-order through B&H. I checked my order after launch and saw it marked as back ordered. I contacted B&H to inquire about restock timing, but they told me the item is still new and unavailable, so they can't provide a schedule. It seems confusing. What’s the current status of your pre-order?

As it turns out they didn’t anticipate the huge demand so never considered that they would get as many pre orders.some of the first preorder guys received confirmation they would get theirs at some point. All of those like us who were not so lucky were automatically put into back order status. To make sure there was no issue I used my debit card. Imagine my surprise when the next morning I yawned and stretched thinking I had finally hit the jackpot, only to look at my account and see the back order. So with them holding my 800 plus funds I called them up and asked to be refunded. They’ rep was nice and said I could keep.my place in preorder and get my cash back but if I found another without canceling it totally they would charge my account. That didn’t appeal to me. I had the 5950x in my hand before I went to bed only to find it was smoke and mirrors when I woke. so I went to Linus and ‘then Steve and Jay and made a value assessment and realized I don’t game for a living, I don’t make videos for a living. This is a perfect time to take advantage of a cpu I couldn’t get before due to the price point but with all the hype desperate people are selling brand new 3950x for 500.00 on eBay. Yes they are based on older architecture but two months ago they were king of the hill and everyone wanted the darn things. The reality is no one will ever fully use all the power of these CPUs so they loose value only because a company tells us they are dated. Really! Well I had a moment of clarity when yesterday I finally reinstalled High Sierra on my 2009 iMac 27” because I could put in a 1tb ssd. It runs like a brand new car. I kid you not. This computer gets more use than any other computer in the house. It’s running the original i7 870. Wait!! Yes first gen i7........t runs like it did the first day I bought it in 2010. That is ten years of solid daily use for ten years. so before you pay 4,575.00 for the 5950x on eBay Like some fools were doing. Hold up and remember the hype is real because these, are great new processors but if your. Livelihood doesn’t rise and fall on a 19 percent increase in performance than look for the deals.
It was only a brief period before the release. Probably they received too many requests and removed it even before the launch went live.
