Order of bios beginning
Hey there, newcomers! I see you're just starting your PC gaming journey and setting up your own rig. It sounds like you're on the right track with your research. Based on what you shared, it seems like the motherboard might not be getting power properly—especially since the BIOS chip was likely damaged or misplaced. Once you fixed the pin issue, you noticed warm plastic and a faulty chip, which suggests the board may not be functioning as expected. For an ASRock Z170 Pro4, it’s possible that without the correct BIOS, the system won’t even try to spin the fans. If you're unsure, ordering a new motherboard with the right BIOS should resolve the issue. Good luck, and happy gaming!
If the BIOS chip is dead or improperly installed, I’d be surprised fans would even spin. Testing at this point doesn’t really help since spinning the fans wouldn’t reveal anything useful about critical board parts. It’s better to install all necessary components first and then perform a test outside the case.
OK great thanks, so possibly dont need a new motherboard yet. I was just a bit concerned of connecting all my parts to the board hitting the power button and having a catastrophic meltdown, but I assume there are failsafes to stop this. Again thank you very much for the information, ill wait for the new chip and peice it all together and try as one.
