Orange Ram Light on mobo after removing ram and reinstalling
I changed the thermal paste on my PC and it started up but there was no display and an orange RAM light. After removing and reinserting the RAM, it functioned properly for a couple of startup attempts. However, once it got back to normal, the orange light appeared again. The RAM appears to be seated correctly, and it worked before the thermal paste change. The most unusual thing is that it only worked for one or two startups.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Use an eraser to clean the gold contacts on the stick(s) of the RAM. Remove any lint from the eraser and then reinsert the RAM. You may also want to empty any remaining power from the system. Turn off the device by shutting down, unplugging the wall outlet, and holding the power button for 30 seconds. This might help.
When sharing a troubleshooting thread, it's good practice to provide your full system specifications. List them clearly as follows:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
Include the age of the PSU, not just its make and model.
BIOS version for your motherboard at this time.
How much thermal paste did you use? Take a photo so we can review it.
