I successfully boosted the CPU using a preset profile at 5.0mhz in my ASUS BIOS. Everything tested well and the system remains stable. Regarding the voltage, the BIOS shows 0.97V—this suggests it’s measuring low, so you might want to adjust the setting to a higher value if needed. If unsure, changing it to a custom profile could give more control.

For the 9700k you're okay with up to 1.4v, right? I adjust my 9900k to around 1.26 or 1.27v if I can recall. I generally avoid going past 1.3v, though it's still safe. The more voltage you apply, the quicker the degradation, and you'll need higher voltages to maintain those clock speeds. 0.97 is only running its base clock, not boosting. The auto overclocks tend to be quite high in voltage. If your temperatures are normal, it should be okay. Tools like CPUz can track voltage, while AIDA64 stress testing reveals the actual voltages during heavy CPU use.

For continuous daily use, after roughly two years you may notice CPU wear starting around 1.3v to 1.35v, which forces higher voltages to maintain speed. Check some YouTube tutorials—many guide you through manually boosting Intel CPUs on Asus boards. Opinions vary, but I personally find auto-overclocking risky, even with modern components. They tend to be quite aggressive, so I've experimented with a custom overclock setting. The preset was reliable for stability, but I'm keen to adjust the voltage manually.

With that minor adjustment, I managed to lower my peak temperature by two degrees during cinebench runs. Thanks for your help—I'll continue exploring other methods to fine-tune the preset!

For stability checks, try AIDA64 and monitor with CPUz to observe the actual voltage under load. Adjust settings gradually, run tests, refine, and repeat. Typically it takes 3-4 days to validate a stable OC and reach optimal performance. I perform 15-minute tests in AIDA64 to feel confident, then systematically reduce or increase voltage until stability is confirmed after 24 hours. Once it passes the long-term test, I raise voltage by 0.005 and aim for the lowest possible stable setting. Happy overclocking!
