My computer has an i5-7400 processor, an MSI RX 480 with 4GB of graphics memory, a Gigabyte GA-H110-D3A motherboard, 16GB of HyperX Savage DDR4 RAM at 2400MHz with a CL rating of 12, a 240GB Kingston A400 solid-state drive, and a 1TB Western Digital Blue hard disk. The game is installed on the SSD.
Initially, I played for approximately 30 minutes, experimenting with a blend of medium and high graphics settings utilizing Vulkan – the game apparently determined this was optimal for my hardware, yielding around 40-50 frames per second at 1080p, which I considered satisfactory. However, beyond that initial period, I began experiencing significant and perplexing freezes. Attempting to utilize DirectX 12 resulted in the game crashing immediately when attempting to load the campaign mode.
Returning to Vulkan, the visuals appeared somewhat distorted, and the freezing issue persisted. What occurred? I had anticipated a harmonious relationship between AMD and Vulkan.
Interestingly, my installation of *Doom* (2016) runs flawlessly at ultra settings and 1080p using Vulkan, consistently delivering over 100 frames per second.
