i've been trying to understand how ryzen works, but the differences between ryzen master and hwinfo are confusing. i trust ryzen master since it's amd's program, yet i'm unsure after a few overclock attempts. it tested at 4.5ghz @ 1.32v stable, but when i set those in bios and ran stress tests with aida64, it crashed all the way to 1.4ghz. i've heard about clock stretching in ryzen master and it seems surprising what it reveals. some people claim lowering voltage drops temps and boosts performance, but that might not be true—benchmarking shows otherwise. a video from steve at gamers nexus confirmed this, saying we still don't fully understand these chips. i'm wondering if overclocking or undervolting really improves things, or if i should stick with the stock settings and let amd handle it.
Checked hwinfo to ensure it's current. Updated software for accurate details about the Ryzen 3000. After adjusting auto-boost settings, voltage stayed around 1.45V for light tasks—preferably below 4GHz peak. Set throttle at 80% and lower frequency to 3.7GHz. Tested around -0.05V offset to reduce crashes. Experimented with 3.8V and 3.9V, but performance dropped. At 1.1875V I achieved 4.175GHz with temps under 76°C (except p95). Higher voltage caused worse performance on benchmarks. Overall, higher clocks and lower voltage helped, but cooling was tight. For quick overclocking, try 1.3V and 4.3GHz if you have good cooling. If unsure, stick to 1.2V with solid cooling.
