Optimize your GAMING PC setup for early 2024 with these tips.
Hello everyone! Welcome to the new year!
I'm gearing up to assemble my gaming PC in the first quarter of 2024—after five years of anticipation.
Could anyone share any tips or recommendations before I finish the purchase?
Please note:
- I plan to set up dual monitors, but I’m unsure which size would be best. Please suggest only 27 inches or larger.
- The dragon logo on the motherboard is a big deal for me, and I’d like to make sure choosing a case with a rear fan won’t obstruct it. If possible, could you recommend alternatives that won’t block the logo?
Here’s what I have so far:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 7800 X3D (8 cores, 16 threads, 96MB, 120W, AM5)
Motherboard: MSI MPG B650 Carbon WIFI ATX AM5
GPU: Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 7900 XTX (24GB video card)
RAM: TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB, 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
Storage: Two Western Digital Black SN850X 2TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe drives
Power Supply: MSI A1000G PCIE5, 1000W, 80+ Gold certified, fully modular ATX
Case: Deepcool CH560 Digital ATX Mid Tower
Cooler: Deepcool LT720 Liquid CPU cooler
Thanks in advance for your advice!
No, but I thought your selection of 7900 XTX suggests you were aiming for the $800 to $1,000 range, and the RTX 4080 Super should be around $1,000. The 4090 would outperform the 4080 Super, but not enough to justify spending an extra $1,000 to $1,500 (or even $2,000 if you opt for that absurd Asus model). Right now, the 4080 is directly competing with the 7900 XTX in non-raytraced games, so the 4080 Super should perform slightly better. Additionally, the 4080 Super uses 25% less power than the 4090, meaning it won’t only cost more initially but will also run more efficiently for most gamers.
Updated build features a more affordable motherboard with VRM RGB lighting and PCIe 5.0 SSD compatibility, paired with a faster SSD. Improved power supply unit selected. The enclosure includes ARGB lighting, two 140mm front panels and one 140mm rear exhaust, with an AIO fan at the top. Enhanced PSU model added. Case design features RGB lighting with two 140mm front panels and one 140mm rear exhaust; top exhaust is an AIO unit. Includes G skill rams for Hynix A die rams and improved reliability. Supported voltages range from +1 to 4080V.
